How to get started?

Select your email-sending partner

  • In your BIK dashboard, navigate to 'Settings' and then 'Channel Management.' Head to the 'Email Marketing' sub-tab to handle all aspects of your email messaging. Ensure BIK is selected as your current email partner for campaigns and automated journeys, utilizing our in-house email service.

  • Follow the below guide on

What is the Senders domain

  • Senders domain, found after the @ in your email address, determines where your emails originate. By default, your account includes email.bik.ai as a sample Senders domain. Use it to test sending campaigns and setting up email journeys.

Expert Tip:

  • Instead of adding just a domain, consider adding at least two sender domains with distinct sub-domains for your marketing and transactional emails. This safeguards the domain reputation; even if marketing campaigns face issues, transactional emails can still be delivered smoothly. Sample ideas for sender domains include:

For marketing emails:

For transactional emails:

DNS records (Key considerations)

  • When adding MX records, you'll be prompted to set a 'Priority,' and it should be configured as 10.

  • If the expected value in some DNS records exceeds 255 characters, which is the limit for certain domain providers, use tools like https://www.mailhardener.com/tools/dns-record-splitter to split the records into two parts. For providers like Google Domains and Amazon Route 53, quote the expected value by adding the chunks inside double-quotes. Utilize the "Use quoted format for Google Cloud DNS" option in the tool if needed.

  • When managing duplicate records, note that only one TXT record can be added for a specific host name. If you already have a TXT record for a host name and receive an additional one from us, merge the duplicate TXT records for that host name. This ensures that only one instance of each value exists in the combined record.

  • Example Consider your current TXT record for the domain brand.com, which appears as follows:

Type

Host name

Value

TXT

brand.com

v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all

And you then receive an additional TXT record from us, that looks like:

Type

Host name

Value

TXT

brand.com

v=spf1 include:email-messaging.com ~all

Ensure your ultimate TXT record includes only one version number, specifically "v=spf1," and a singular all mechanism, either "-all" or "~all." This applies to all duplicate values in the SPF record, as the unified record should have only one instance of each value.

Type

Host name

Value

TXT

brand.com

v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all

TXT

brand.com

v=spf1 include:email-messaging.com ~all

Identify and remove duplicate instances of the version number and all mechanisms, highlighted in red in the example. The remaining sections, marked in black, should remain unchanged and can be entered in any order. After eliminating duplicates, your record should look like the one below.

Type

Host name

Value

TXT

brand.com

Common domain providers and DNS record tips:

  • GoDaddy: Follow this link for guidance.

  • NameCheap: Remove the domain name from the "Host" value as NameCheap automatically appends it.

  • Google Domains: For MX records, enter "preference (10) mx.record.com" in a single field.

  • CloudFlare: Exclude the domain name from the "Host" value while adding DNS records.

  • BigRock, Shopify Domains, and Others: Remove the automatically added domain name from the "Host" value.

  • Amazon Route 53: Enter split records as two lines with the same host name.

  • HostGator, Bluehost, Hostinger, Wix, Hostwinds, Weebly: Standard procedures apply.

  • Hover: Ensure concise input for DNS records.
