AB Testing Block
Updated over a week ago

AB Testing Block:

AB Testing, also known as split testing, is a method of comparing two or more versions of a variable (e.g., web pages, emails, or journeys) to determine which one performs better. In the context of Journey Builder, AB Testing allows you to test different paths in a customer journey to see which one yields the best results.

Why is AB Testing Useful?

AB Testing is useful for optimizing customer journeys by:

  • Improving Engagement: Identifying which path keeps customers more engaged.

  • Boosting Conversion Rates: Finding the most effective journey to convert prospects into customers.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Making decisions based on actual performance data rather than assumptions.

Creating an AB Testing Block:

  1. Access Journey Builder: Open the journey for which you want to add the AB Testing Block.

  2. Choose the AB testing block: From the flow control blocks select the AB test block.

3. Configure the Split Paths:

  • Add Paths: Click "Add Path" to create multiple paths (A, B, C, etc.) for the test.

  • Set Split Percentages: Assign a percentage to each path. Ensure the total adds up to 100%. For example:

    • Path A: 50%

    • Path B: 50%

    • Path C: 90% (This will need adjustment as the total exceeds 100%)

  • Adjust Percentages: Ensure the total percentage of all paths equals 100%. For instance:

    • Path A: 34%

    • Path B: 33%

    • Path C: 33%

4. Randomise Path Selection:

  • Enable Randomisation: Check the option to randomise the path every time a customer takes this step.

Disable Randomisation: Uncheck this option if you want a customer to go through the same journey every time they reach this step.

5. Finalize Configuration:

  • Review Paths and Percentages: Ensure all paths and percentages are correctly set and total 100%.

  • Save the AB Testing Block: Click "Save" to apply the AB Testing block to your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1. What happens if the split percentages don't add up to 100%?

The system will prompt you to adjust the percentages so that the total equals 100%. This is necessary for the AB Testing to function correctly.

2. Can I have more than two paths in an AB Test?

Yes, you can add multiple paths. However, ensure the split percentages of all paths combined total 100%.

3. How do I split paths equally?

For two paths, there is an option to split equally. Simply click on the "Split Equally" option, and it will automatically set both paths to 50%.

4. Can I edit the split percentages after the journey has started?

Yes, you can edit the split percentages even after the journey has started. However, changes will only apply to customers entering the journey after the changes are made.
