RCS Channel

Updated over a week ago

Introducing RCS Channel !

We have introduced a brand-new channel in your campaign toolkit: RCS (Rich Communication Services)!

Think of RCS as the next generation of SMS – more rich, interactive, and engaging, with advanced features like buttons, carousels, media headers, and even PDF support.

What is RCS?

RCS is an enhanced messaging protocol supported on Android devices. It provides a WhatsApp-like experience right within the phone’s native messaging app – complete with:
1. Branding
2. Images, videos, & PDFs
3. Rich CTAs with buttons and carousels
4. Higher engagement compared to traditional SMS

RCS enables you to deliver highly engaging marketing and transactional experiences, taking your customer interactions to the next level.

Integrating RCS into BIK

Here’s how you can set up and launch your first RCS campaign:

1. Set Up Your RCS Account

  • Ask your client to set up their RCS account in their Trustsignal account.

  • The Trustsignal team can assist with onboarding and template creation if needed.

Once Trust Signal is integrated, Go to Channel Management in Settings page and Click on Connect for RCS channel.

Toggle the option to enable RCS channel in Campaigns.

2. Create or Sync Templates

  • You can create RCS templates directly from the Trustsignal dashboard.

  • Once created, templates can be synced into your dashboard via the Template Management screen.

Once the templates are created on Trust Signal, click on sync button in Template Management Screen to sync the templates from Trust Signal.

3. Test Your Broadcasts

  • Send test broadcasts directly from the dashboard to preview how your RCS messages will appear to end users.

Tracking & Analytics

All campaign analytics, delivery reports, and tracking work the same way as SMS campaigns.

For better ROI analytics, add Cost per message for RCS in Revenue attribution Tab in Settings page.

  • BIK only supports URLs in CTA buttons.

  • Always use dynamic values in CTA URLs to ensure proper tracking. Trustsignal does not auto-enable this, so remember to configure it manually!

Sender & Bots

  • Instead of a traditional sender ID or header, RCS campaigns are sent via a bot.

  • Best Practice: Use different bots for transactional and marketing messages to maintain good bot reputation – just like you would with WhatsApp or email senders.

Device Support

Currently available for Android devices only and if user Enables RCS Messages.
iOS support is not yet available.

FAQs:

1. Which devices support RCS messages?

Currently, RCS is only supported on Android devices that have RCS enabled by their mobile carrier and messaging app. iOS does not support RCS at this time.

2. Do I need a special sender ID for RCS?

No – instead of a sender ID, you’ll use a bot as your sender.
You can have multiple bots for different use cases (marketing, transactional, etc.).
A bot acts like a branded profile that customers see in their messages.

3. Can I create my own RCS templates?

Yes! Clients can create templates directly in the Trustsignal dashboard. These can then be synced to your main campaign dashboard under Template Management.

4. How is campaign performance tracked for RCS?

RCS campaign tracking works the same as SMS:
Delivery reports, clicks, and conversions are available in your campaign analytics.
Make sure to use dynamic tracking values in CTA URLs for accurate results.

5. How can I check ROI for RCS channel?

You can add cost per message for RCS in settings and we will calculate ROI for the RCS campaigns.
