Link Facebook product catalogue to WABA using FBM (Manual process)

  • Before beginning the setup process, please review the following list and ensure that you follow the appropriate steps based on the client's specific setup

    1. Shopify Client

      1. Not advertising using the Shopify Facebook catalog

      2. Advertising using the Shopify Facebook catalog ie catalog has a destination

        1. The Shopify product catalog is being used for something else (FB shop, IG shop and another WABA connected)

          1. The client has less than 1000 SKUs

          2. The client has a Feed URL for all their products

            1. Then create a new Catalog for the client

          3. The client has a tech team to provide them with a dynamic feed URL

            1. Then create a new Catalog for the client

          4. The client has an Excel sheet of all their products

            1. Last resort, since the product data won’t be dynamic

            2. Asking them to create a new catalog using this

    2. Non-shopify Client

      1. Have a catalog on Commerce Manager which is linked to their product database (dynamic sync)

        1. Not advertising the catalog

          1. Follow normal steps

        2. Advertising using the catalog

          1. The product catalog is being used for something else (FB shop, IG shop and another WABA connected)

            1. The client has a Feed URL for all their products

              1. Then create a new Catalog for the client

            2. The client has a tech team to provide them with a dynamic feed URL

              1. Then create a new Catalog for the client

            3. The client has an Excel sheet of all their products

              1. Last resort, since the product data won’t be dynamic

              2. Asking them to create a new catalog using this

    Other cases to check for:

    1. User has admin access for catalog

    2. If Shopify client, check if catalog is created from Shopify source

    3. The user should have “people access” to the catalog

  • Steps for creating a new catalogue with a feed URL

    To create a new catalogue:

    1. Start creating your catalogue:

      • If you already have at least one catalogue, you'll see all of your catalogues listed. Select + Add Catalogue to create a new one.

    2. Select the type of inventory you advertise or sell, then click Next.

    3. E-commerce (products) only: Choose how you want to add items to your catalogue:

      • Select Upload product info since you plan to add items yourself in Commerce Manager.

    4. Select the Business Manager account that your catalogue belongs to. To select a Business Manager account, you must be a business admin.

    5. Enter a name for your catalogue.

    6. Click Create.

    7. Open the Catalogue tab and go to Data sources.

    8. Select Data feed, followed by Next.

    9. Select “Yes” when prompted

    10. Select “Use a URL” and enter data feed URL

    11. Select the suitable schedule

    12. Choose the right settings and upload

    13. Voila! Your catalog is ready.

  • Steps for Syncing Shopify Product with FB Commerce Manager via Ads Account-

    From the Client’s Shopify Dashboard:

    1. Select the “Sales Channel” option on the left sidebar and Connect “Facebook and Instagram” as a sales channel

    2. Click on the “Start Setup” button in the “Advertise your products on Facebook'' section.

    3. Click on the “Connect Account” CTA and enter your FB credentials (please select the FB account where you are the admin of the FBM which has the WABA onboarded with us)

    4. Find the FBM account which has the WABA onboarded with us and click on “Connect” next to it.

    5. In the next step, please enable “Share Data” and select “Enhanced” in the “Choose Preference” section. Click on “Save”

    6. In “Connect a pixel to track customer behaviour”, scroll down to the end of the list and click on “Create New” in the “Create a Facebook pixel”.PS - The client can connect any FB Pixel already available to them, we will not be interfering with the client’s Ad accounts and Pixel in any way.

    7. Agree with the terms and conditions and then click “Submit for Review”

    8. Click on “Publish Products” after the catalog has been connected successfully.

    9. In the new tab that opens, select the “Facebook & Instagram” channel (and others if you want the products from the catalogs to be shown there).

    10. After the sync is successful, go back to the “Facebook & Instagram” overview screen, copy the Catalog ID visible in the “Connected Catalog” section, and share it with the GSM assigned to you.

  • Once Catalog is ready, please follow these steps
    Give access to BIK

    1. We will have to ask the client to give Catalog Access to Bik (Add BIK (Business Manager ID: 389606231585650) as Catalog Partner)

      1. Go to Facebook Business Manager page (click on this link https://business.facebook.com/settings/ and select your Facebook Business manager account)

      2. Once in your FBM, on the left panel, click on the section Data Sources > Catalogs

      3. Now select the Catalog which was selected in Step 1-a

      4. Under Shopify Product Catalog, click on the “Assign Partners

      5. In the modal “Assign Partner, click on Business ID and enter this ID in the text box seen: 389606231585650

      6. Toggle on the “Manage Catalog” option and click on next.

    2. The CX will then connect their Catalog to their WABA, this allows us to send Product Catalog messages from their WABA.

      1. Once in your FBM, on the left panel, click on the section Accounts > WhatsApp Accounts

      2. Select the WABA (Whatsapp Business Account) which is onboarded BIK

      3. Click on the side tab “Settings” and click on the CTA “WhatsApp Manager”

      4. You will be redirected to the WhatsApp Manager.

      5. Go to the “Account Tools” on the lift side panel and then click on “Catalog”

      6. You will see the “Connect a Catalog” pop-up in front of you, in the dropdown below click on the Catalog we selected in step 1-a. You can verify if this catalog is the correct one by clicking “View Catalog”.

      7. Click on the “Connect Catalog” button.

  • Add data feed rule:

    Login from the FB id that has the client’s WABA on it (which is onboarded with us)

    IMP: The catalog linked from Shopify and the WABA (onboarded with us) should be on the same Facebook Business Manager account

    1. Go to the URL https://business.facebook.com/commerce/Then select the FBM which has the WABA onboarded with us and then click on the catalog which has all the products (with Dynamic sync) The catalog ID should be copied and sent to your GSM.

    2. Now that you know the catalog to be worked with, click on Data Sources, under the Catalog section on the left side panel

    3. In the Data sources section, under the Product Data Rules, click on the “Add Rule” button.

    4. Go to “Set data feed rules” (setting these rules is necessary for selling in India)

      Once done, with entering the origin_coountry and other details, click on create and then click on “Apply” to save your changes.

  • For custom websites, create a set:

    1. Ask the client to create a product set with SKU IDs equal to or less than 1000 (SKU/variant/content IDs used interchangeably).

      1. Why? We sync these products directly onto our system. These are products that will be used for Browse Product flows on chat and hence can be limited.

    2. Collect the URL for the set

    3. Inform product and tech (integrations team) to sync the product set and share the URL

    4. Once the products are synced, these will be visible in the builder’s product picker

✅ Once you have manually connected the catalog and WABA, please share the catalog ID and store with the tech team to make it live.
