Overview

We are pleased to announce the release of Journey Type support in our Journeys feature. This enhancement allows you to categorize your communication as either Marketing or Utility, ensuring that your messages are sent with the appropriate settings and compliance.

Journey Types Explained:

  1. Marketing:

    • DND Compliance: Do Not Disturb (DND) is automatically enabled for all Marketing journeys. This ensures that messages are only sent to recipients who have not opted out of marketing communications.

    • Spam Prevention: Additional spam prevention measures are applicable (coming soon). This will help in maintaining the integrity and deliverability of your marketing messages.

    When to Use: Use the Marketing type to send promotions and information about your products, services, or business.

  2. Utility:

    • DND Compliance: DND is not applicable for Utility journeys, allowing you to send essential updates without restrictions.

    • Recommendation: If you intend to send promotional content, it’s advised to move to the Marketing type to comply with DND regulations.

    When to Use: Use the Utility type to send messages with updates about an existing order, account, or other non-promotional information.


How to Select or Change Journey Types:

1. Creating a New Journey:

  • Navigate to the Journey Dashboard.

  • Click on the New Journey button.

  • Choose the Create from Scratch option.

  • You will then be able to select whether your new journey is of Marketing or Utility type.

2. Changing the Type of an Existing Journey:

  • In the Journey Dashboard, find the journey you want to change.

  • Click on the contextual dots (three vertical dots) next to the journey.

  • Select the Move to different Journey Type or Category option.

  • Choose the desired journey type (Marketing or Utility) from the options.


Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1: What is the difference between Marketing and Utility Journey types?

Marketing journeys are intended for sending promotional content and product information, while Utility journeys are for sending updates related to existing orders or accounts. DND is automatically applied to Marketing journeys but not to Utility journeys.

2: Can I switch a journey from Utility to Marketing or vice versa?

Yes, you can switch a journey type either at the time of creation or later by using the "Move to different Journey Type or Category" option in the journey's contextual menu.

3: What happens if I send promotional content using a Utility journey?

Sending promotional content through a Utility journey is not recommended as DND compliance is not enforced. For such content, it's advisable to use a Marketing journey to avoid potential issues with regulations.

4: Can I disable DND for a Marketing journey?

Yes, If DND is disabled globally from DND settings it will not impact any Marketing Journeys.
